History of the Union League Club of Chicago

For nearly 140 years, the union league club of Chicago has upheld the sacred obligations of citizenship, promoted honesty and efficiency in government, supported cultural institutions and the beautification of the city and supported our nation’s military and their families.

Through the efforts of its dynamic membership, the club has been a catalyst for action in nonpartisan political, economic and social arenas – focusing its leadership and resources on important social issues. as early as 1893, Chicago gained recognition as a world-class city when it hosted the world’s Columbia exposition. Club members were instrumental in having Chicago named as the site of the exposition by the united states congress. Since that time club members have played a role in establishing many of the city’s cultural organizations, including orchestra hall and the field museum. In the 1990's, the club celebrated its role in the opening of the Harold Washington library center. Today, the club continues its pursuit to remain committed to community, country and culture.

The Family Wealth Alliance is pleased to be celebrating its 15th year together with the executives of the family wealth industry we serve.  In recognition of this milestone anniversary, The Alliance will host a 15th Anniversary Awards Gala at the 2018 Fall Forum.

Since 2003, The Alliance has endeavored to chronicle what was once a newly emerging multifamily office community.  Since that time, our organization has evolved into one that delivers critical insights, creates exclusive opportunities for peer-to-peer exchange, and fosters bespoke connections among industry participants.  Doing so has enabled us to support the growth of those individuals and firms that cater to the needs of high net worth families while documenting our evolving industry.

Because of the role The Alliance plays within the family wealth industry, we have enjoyed a unique vantage point from which to identify the trailblazers among us.  In our 15th anniversary year, the Awards Gala during the Fall Forum is our opportunity to honor these leaders and celebrate their many contributions.

Question: When does the Alliance Fall Forum take place?

Answer: The Alliance Fall Forum takes place from October 16 to October 18.

Question: Who should attend?

Answer: The Alliance Fall Forum is our premier, invitation-only gathering. Each year we have anywhere from 100-125 of the top leaders in the family wealth industry, consisting of C-level executives from Single- and Multifamily offices, External CIO firms, allied professionals and select outsource provider firms, as well as some select media representatives, special speakers and guests. In addition and in most years, this gathering has been sold-out.

Question: What is unique about this gathering and how is it different from all the others?

Answer: This is truly an event experience like none other. This is a high-level, invitation-only gathering for C-level executives and limited to 125 paid attendees. We also limit the number of Partners and Co-Hosts, so that approximately two-thirds of the attendees are family office provider firms.

Question: How do you make this gathering so special?

Answer: While it begins with having a room full of leaders and limited attendance to keep interaction at a high level, we go beyond that. First, we require a professional bio and picture of every attendee, which we send out just ahead of our gathering. In addition, we assign you to a Peer Group Discussion each day, an intimate, hosted Dine-a-Round, and unique to The Alliance Fall Forum, your very-own Dance Card, which contains six pre-introductions. Finally, we create (and expect!) an atmosphere that fosters collegiality, collaboration, and that all-important ROI for your time and money invested.

Question: How have your past events been rated by your attendees?

Answer: Because this event is attended by seasoned executives with high expectations, we are quite proud that over 95% of our attendees would recommend this special gathering to a colleague. We happen to believe this is due in large part to the quality of the leadership in attendance, coupled with the special atmosphere that we create and expect. Truly the unique qualities of The Alliance Fall Forum speak for themselves.

Question: What is the dress code for the event?

Answer: Dress code for the Alliance Fall Forum is business dress attire.

  • Men: Buisness suit or sport coat and slacks with collared shirt and necktie.
  • Women: Suit (including business pantsuit), dress or blazer with skirt or tailored slacks.

Please visit the Union League Club of Chicago's dress code policy to read more specifics about where certain attire is and is not allowed.
