The Alliance offers an invaluable service to families of extraordinary means. We make sense of the bewildering world of wealth management firms through education. When asked by a family, we serve akin to an executive placement firm. We’re simply an objective matchmaker of families and best-in-class firms. We are the first organization to combine objective education, assessment, and placement of families in the wealth management arena.

Families want objective advice. They often seek The Alliance for these reasons:

  • For life events such as a retirement, a sale of a family business, an inheritance,
or other “sudden money” occurrences; or
  • For a second opinion of their situation, as they suspect they may have “out-
    grown” their current provider; or
  • Simply for our objective education.

The Alliance knows that the best firms tailor their services to what their client families require. They have mastered the art of relationship building, and the science of integrating all facets of their clients’ needs. These firms have stable ownership and low personnel turnover. The best firms consistently design creative strategies and implement with “open architecture.” The Alliance defines eight different types of wealth management firms including Multifamily Offices (MFOs). We have also identified up to ten categories of services these wealth management firms might offer, only one of which is investment management.

The Alliance is an invitation-only organization. Each wealth management firm being considered is thoroughly screened. Our extensive due diligence includes an in-depth review of their business, reference checks and on-site visits. The result is a select number of best-in-class firms nationwide, with a mix of specialties and backgrounds. We also employ peer reviews and annual surveys of placed families to ensure that these firms continue to meet our standards.

For families, the issue is about best fit and not whether one best-in-class firm is superior to another. For instance, not every family requires all ten wealth management services, nor do all best-in-class firms offer every one of them. This is why understanding and matching the needs of each family is critical, and why we only make introductions when we see a best fit.
